Scope and Content Stone circle and standing stones at Callanish (Plan) The stones at Callanish form one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in Scotland. Built on the E shore of Loch Roag they comprise of a stone circle with four radiating rows of standing stones. There is also a chambered cairn within the circle. This is an early plan of the site. It shows the position of the stone circle, with the double row of stones to the N, and single rows E,S and W. The cairn is in the E half of the circle. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
