Scope and Content Stone rows known as Hill o' Many Stanes at Mid Clyth, Caithness, Highland These stone rows at Mid Clyth are the best preserved example of a monument type unique to the Caithness and Sutherland areas. The rows run down the S slope of a low hill. Over 600 stones would be needed in order to complete the pattern. This is a view of the stones. About 200 are arranged in at least 22 rows. These fan out slightly to the S end. The slabs are less than 1 m high. In 1871 the site was said to consist of around 250 stones. Neither this site or any other stone rows have been excavated.
