Scope and Content Henge monument, Cairn and Stone Circle in the grounds of Moncreiffe House, Perth and Kinross Excavation of this site revealed a complex history. It began as a small henge defined by a penannular ditch, but the ditch was later backfilled and a circle of eight standing stones was then erected. The stones were graded in height. This is a view of the reconstructed stone circle. It now lies in front of and slightly to the W of Moncreiffe House. This site originally stood on the N side of the W drive to Moncreiffe House and was surrounded by open agricultural land. It was excavated in 1974, when it was threatened by roadworks. Subsequently, the stones were re-erected at a new site. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
