Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Punds Water, West Mainland, Shetland The chambered cairn at Punds Water is one of the best-preserved examples of a heel-shaped cairn. This is because it was subsequently covered by blanket peat, making the area less hospitable. The area would have originally had agricultural potential. This is a view of the cairn from the outside. The walls of the passage and chamber are over 1m in height. The chamber and passage are now roofless. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
