Scope and Content Pencil sketch inscribed on reverse 'Old house at Jedburgh in which Queen Mary resided when she went to see Bothwell who lay wounded at The Hermitage. It is in excellent order fully furnished & quite perfect & is inhabited by two old ladies who show the appartments which were occupied by her. The Bedroom is at present slept in by someone. The usual old spiral stone stair leads to the various flats. Sep 1867.' Annotated.
