Scope and Content Symbol stone from Dunnichen, Angus This symbol stone was discovered in 1805 on Dunnichen Hill. There was s tone coffin, containing bones, below it. The stone is now in the Meffan Institute, Forfar, although a replica stands next to Dunnichen Church. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. At the top is a flower. Below this is a double-disc and Z-rod and a mirror-and-comb. The double-disc is decorated with whorls. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
