Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Sueno's Stone at Forres, Morayshire Sueno's Stone is a 7.6 ton slab of stone, probably from the coast at Covesea some 15 km away. One story is that the stone commemorate a major battle against Norse settlers from Orkney. Found buried in 1726, the stone is now covered by a glass case. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It shows the top half of the cross with its ring of glory and fine interlace decoration. Also seen is the side of the stone. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
