Description View of horsemill from South West

Date 5/5/1982

Catalogue Number DF 3456

Category Photographs and Off-line Digital Images

Copies SC 342120

Scope and Content Inside of horse-mill at West Gallaberry, Kirkton, Dumfries and Galloway The horse engine-house at West Gallaberry is one of very few to retain most of its driving-mechanism. However, its threshing machine no longer survives. Inside the slate-roofed shed, three horses would walk in circles, turning the horse wheel and so rotating a shaft which drove the threshing machine inside the next-door barn.
