Interior of dairy

Description Interior of dairy

Catalogue Number SC 341894

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of IN 1619 CN

Scope and Content Milk-room inside dairy at Guisachan, Tomich, Highland The ornamental dairy at Guisachan in Tomich was probably built around 1870 during the time the Guisachan estate belonged to Dudley Marjoribanks, afterwards Baron Tweedmouth of Edington. The milk-room is decorated with stained-glass windows, a coloured dado, a terrazzo floor, and a fountain which also helped to cool the room. It still contains some original implements and utensils. The gauze above the door lets cool air flow in from the outside but keeps out the insects. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
