Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Kirriemuir 1 at Forfar, Angus This stone, along with one other, were discovered in 1787 in the foundations of an old church in Kirriemuir. They were placed in a cemetery and are now on display at the Meffan Institute in Forfar. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. This side is divided into two panels. The upper one contains three figures. The lower one has female on a throne with a mirror-and-comb. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
