Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Craigton 2 (or the Golspie Stone) at Dunrobin, Sutherland, Highland This cross-slab was moved from Golspie Churchyard to Dunrobin Castle Museum in 1868. It was reported in being in the churchyard since at least 1780 but local tradition claims the stone was originally from Craigton. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. There are several symbols, figures and animals. These include a rectangle, Pictish Beast, salmon, double-disc, flower and a crescent. An ogam inscription may read ALLHHALLORREDDMQQNUUVVHRREIRF. The MQQ may be MAQQ meaning 'son of' from Ireland.
