Scope and Content Symbol stone at Mortlach, Morayshire This stone stands in the middle of the lower churchyard in Kirktown of Mortlach. It is a natural pillar of stone with carvings on both faces. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It shows the NE face which has a cross, carved in relief, on it. Two animal-headed fish-monsters are above it and another animal below. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
