Scope and Content Elevation of steeple of Strathmiglo Town-house, Fife Strathmiglo Town-house probably replaced an earlier 16th-century tolbooth. The steeple was added in 1734 and the main block was rebuilt in the 19th century. The steeple's clock-faces were renewed in 1921. The 1734 heraldic plaque bears the name and arms of Margaret Balfour of Burleigh, the burgh's feudal superior. The sundial may be all that is left of the mercat cross.
