Scope and Content Fort at Lyne, Scottish Borders This fort at Lyne is on a plateau above a bend in Lyne Water. It was built to replace the Agricolan fort at Easter Happrew which was abandoned c.AD 86. The new fort was built close to a Roman road built when the area was reoccupied in the 2nd century AD. This is an aerial view of the fort. It was protected by a rampart, supported on both sides by a low kerb, and three ditches. This is best preserved to the W and at the NE corner. There were entrances in each side and annexes to the N and S. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
