Scope and Content Elevation of Coupar Angus Steeple, Perth and Kinross Coupar Angus Steeple was probably built on the site of the old prison belonging to the regality of Coupar Angus. This was granted to the ancestors of the Lords of Balmerino in 1607, having previously belonged to the local Cistercian abbey. The steeple has six storeys and can be seen from a great distance. The current burgh clock was installed in 1865. The burgh bell was donated in 1767. It was cast in Edinburgh by John Milne and Son. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
