Description View of fort from the north.

Catalogue Number SC 337208

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of AG 2820

Scope and Content Fort at Carradale Point, Kintyre, Argyll and Bute The fort is built on the highest part of a small tidal island and can only be reached at low tide. As an additional defence many of the gullies leading up the fort have been blocked by stone walls. The fort would have originally been defended by a thick timber and stone wall. Fragment of the original facing can still be seen. To the E are large areas of vitrification which may have happened either accidentally or as the result of an attack.
