Scope and Content Reconstruction of Brechin Town-house, Angus Brechin Town-house was built to replace a 17th-century tolbooth which was 'in great disrepair'. A public subscription together with donations from the local MP and also the guildry provided the construction funds. This is what the town-house would have looked like just after it was built and until a shop front was inserted in the east gable in the 20th century, Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
