Scope and Content Cross-slab known as the Maiden Stone at Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire The Maiden Stone stands by the roadside at Chapel of Garrioch. Local legend says that it was named after the daughter of the laird of Balquhain who died during her elopement. This is a view of the S side of the slab. It is decorated with interlace patterns. Though slightly weathered, these can still be clearly made out. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
