Scope and Content Late 18th-century view of New Galloway Town Hall, Dumfries and Galloway New Galloway Town Hall dates to the early 18th century but was almost completely rebuilt in 1875-6. Its bells were donated by two Jacobite supporters, the 6th Viscount Kenmure executed after 1715, and the brother of the Earl of Dundonald. This is how the town-house and New Galloway looked around 1798. The town-house is the building on the left at the far end of the main street. It is just possible to make out the earlier, balustraded upper stage of the steeple. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
