Scope and Content Cell door inside Falkirk Town Steeple, Falkirk Falkirk Town Steeple replaced a 1697 steeple, part of the original tolbooth. The main block had been sold off and demolished in 1803. The resulting subsidence forced the demolition of the old steeple and triggered a ten-year legal battle. The cells on the second and third floors still have their iron-cased doors.
