Scope and Content Nairn Town and County Buildings, Highland Nairn Town and County Buildings replaced an earlier tolbooth which was itself a replacement for one accidentally burnt by soldiers in 1716. The construction cost was shared between the burgh and the county. Little of the original interior survived the renovations of 1868-70 and the conversion for local authority use in the 1980s. However, the first-floor court-room to the left of the steeple has an original ceiling. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
