Scope and Content Whithorn Old Town Hall, Dumfries and Galloway Whithorn Old Town Hall was probably built around 1814 to replace an earlier building. Little documentary evidence survives to throw light on its architectural history. A new town-hall was built in 1885. The square-headed doorway to the right of the main entrance was probably inserted in the late 19th century. The shop-front to the left of the door dates from the early 20th century.
