Scope and Content Pollokshaws Clock-tower, City of Glasgow Pollokshaws Clock-tower is the surviving part of the town hall. This was built by the 'Community or Common Council', a body of subscribers who acted as a council before the town became a burgh, Thanks to a public campaign, the steeple was spared when the main block was demolished in 1935. The side-walls attached to the steeple were rebuilt preserving the original crenellations. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
