Scope and Content Stone rows known as Hill o' Many Stanes at Mid Clyth, Caithness, Highland These stone rows at Mid Clyth are the best preserved example of a monument type unique to the Caithness and Sutherland areas. The rows run down the S slope of a low hill. Over 600 stones would be needed in order to complete the pattern. This plan gives an idea of the layout of the stone rows. The 22 rows fan out slightly to the S end. The main fan seem to be in the centre of the setting. To the W the fanning is bent slightly to the N. There are some stray stone s to the E. Neither this site or any other stone rows have been excavated. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
