Scope and Content Burgh arms on steeple of Stranraer Town-house, Dumfries and Galloway Stranraer Town-house replaced a ruinous tolbooth on the same site. Lack of funds prevented the rebuilding of the next-door church. Instead an extra 'four or five foots' were added to The town-house steeple. A new town-hall replaced the town-house in 1874. A heraldic plaque on the steeple bears the burgh arms. It was installed in 1886 Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
