Scope and Content Entrance hall inside Culross Town-house, Fife Culross Town-house was built in the early 17th century, probably replacing an early tolbooth dating from before 1588. The 18th-century ceiling in the entrance hall comes from the court-room to the left. The debtors' room, to the right, has a roll-moulded doorway blocked in the late 18th century. A newel-stair at the end of the hall leads to the garret. The painted beams from the court-room show a thin flowing arabesque pattern similar to work found inside Culross Palace.
