Scope and Content Recumbent stone circle at Loanhead of Daviot, Aberdeenshire This recumbent stone circle at Loanhead of Daviot. It is a very well preserved example of this kind of monument. Before the central ring cairn was built there may have been a wooden structure within the circle. One of the stones is cup-marked. This is a view of the recumbent stone and its two flankers. They are set within a slight arc in the kerb of the ring cairn. The recumbent stone itself weighs about 12 tons and has been split in two by frost. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
