Scope and Content Standing stones known as Standing Stones of Cullerlie, Aberdeenshire These standing stones lie on a gravel ridge on Leuchar Moss at Echt. The site was excavated in 1934. This is a view of the stones. Eight stones, highest to the N, are set in a circle. Inside are 8 small kerb-cairns. The largest, in the centre, has a double kerb. Most of the cairns use 11 stones to form the kerbs. Excavations found out several interesting points about the stones. After construction a fire of willow branches was lit inside the circle before the kerbs were in-filled. Seven of the cairns contained cremated bone. Pot sherds and 3 flints were found.
