General view of broch.

SC 336005

Description General view of broch.

Date 1984

Catalogue Number SC 336005

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of A 313

Scope and Content Broch at Dalsetter, South Mainland, Shetland This broch is at Dalsetter. It is built on a knoll surrounded by outer defences and is in a ruinous state. Several croft buildings and sheep-stells have been built with stone taken from the it and this suggests the original building was very substantial. This is a view of the ruined broch. Two well-preserved ramparts separated by a ditch surround the knoll on which the broch stood. Between the broch and the defences are the remains of a number of outbuildings.
