Description View of cairn from the SE.

Catalogue Number SC 335897

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of AG 15417 CN

Scope and Content Cairn at Ri Cruin, Argyll and Bute This cairn is at Ri Cruin. It no longer stands to is original height although it retains its original diameter. It has been excavated twice and three cists were found. None of these contained any grave goods. This is a view of the cairn. Several of the stones which lined the cists had been grooved and rebated to allow a tighter fit. The W end-slab from the S cist is decorated with axe-marks. A second decorated slab from the E end of the S cairn was destroyed in a fire. A cast can be found in the RMS. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
