Scope and Content Pittenweem Town Hall, Fife Pittenweem Town Hall uses the site of part of the Priory's Great House, granted to the burgh for use as a tolbooth in 1588 and acquired after lengthy litigation with the commendator. The Town Hall was built after the old building became dangerous. The Town Hall was planned 'with the utmost economy' to reuse material, including windows, from the old town-house. The arms of Bishop Kennedy of St Andrews (died in 1465) are built into the south-east gable. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
