Scope and Content Ceres Weigh-house, Fife Ceres Weigh-house was probably built in the 18th century, though Ceres was made a burgh of barony for the Hopes of Craighall in 1620. The sloping site allowed the builders to put in an extra basement at the back. A pair of jougs hands next to the door. The south gable next to the inn may have been rebuilt. The basement prison still has barred windows. A door leads from the prison into the next-door cottage which has a reused stone lintel over its front door. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
