Scope and Content Fort at Blackhill, Crawfordjohn, Lanarkshire Blackhill fort is built on an elevated spur but is overlooked by higher ground. There has been more than one period of occupation at the fort. Inside is a modern sheepfold. There is a small barrow and a cairn nearby which appear to be contemporary. This is an aerial view of the fort. The single-rampart with outer ditch of the earlier fort surrounds the later walled enclosure. The sheepfold can seen on top of the wall in the upper corner of the image. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
