Scope and Content Standing stone at Busta, North Mainland, Shetland This large standing stone overlooks Busta Voe. It would have taken a lot of manpower and effort to erect in this place and the stones wedging it into its pit can still be seen above ground level. To the NE is a second stone - a small triangular block. This is a view of the standing stone from the SW. This stout monolith is made of granite and is thought to weigh around 20 tons. A popular local tradition says that the larger stone was thrown to this spot by the Devil from some hill in Northmavine. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
