Scope and Content Statue of Habbie Simpson on Kilbarchan Steeple, Renfrewshire Kilbarchan Steeple originated when the principal heritor, James Milliken, suggested adding it to the proposed village school. In 1782 the school was replaced by a new main block with a larger school-room. The statue on the outside of the steeple is a 1932 replica of an earlier wooden one installed in 1822. It represents Habbie Simpson, a famous local piper who lived sometime between 1550 and 1620. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
