Scope and Content Interior of rope-walk of Forth and Clyde Roperie at Kirkcaldy, Fife The Forth and Clyde Roperie was founded in 1850 by a local boat-builder and a twine manufacturer for making soft-fibre ropes, and became the Forth and Clyde Roperie Company Limited in 1896. It went on to make hard-fibre ropes up to 320 metres long. Strands of rope were spun together into thicker rope along these tracks. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
