Scope and Content 'Priest's Room' ( third-floor north), gatehouse, Falkland Palace, Fife Falkland Palace was remodelled in 1537-41 for King James V (died 1542). The south range dates from his reign, as do the exteriors of the earlier buildings. The east and north ranges were probably both built for King James IV (1488-1513). This is the north room on the third-floor of the gatehouse which was originally part of the apartments belonging to the Keeper - the royal official responsible for running and maintaining the Palace. The ceiling was painted by Andrew W Lyon in 1894-6. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
