Scope and Content 1906 view of St James Place, Kinghorn, Fife Kinghorn was a royal burgh by about 1170. It had a weekly market from 1285, but was not represented in parliament until 1470. Much of the burgh was rebuilt in the 19th century when the linen industry brought new prosperity. This shows St James Place in 1906. Many of the houses have crow-stepped gables and pantiles, typical of Fife vernacular architecture. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
