Scope and Content Symbol stone known as Kintore 1 at Kintore Churchyard, Kintore, Aberdeenshire The Kintore 1 symbol stone is unusual in that it has symbols on both faces. It was found underground in the churchyard and now stands by the inner face of the churchyard wall near the entrance. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It shows the N face of the stone. This is carved with a crescent and V-rod, which lies over a Pictish Beast. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
