Scope and Content Cross-slab from St. Madoes, Perthshire and Kinross This stone originally came from beside the Church of St Madoes where is was first recorded as lying in the churchyard. It was re-erected in 1853 and was moved to Perth Museum in 1991. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. The face is filled with a square-bossed cross carved in high-relief. The cross has a ring of glory and is surrounded by climbing animals. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
