Scope and Content Steeple staircase inside Banff Town-house, Aberdeenshire Banff Town-house accommodated the town and county councils. The steeple replaced a dangerous one demolished in 1762. The main building replaced the old 16th-century tolbooth which was also demolished in 1794. The local MP donated 100 guineas to the cost. This is the bottom of the cantilevered newel-less staircase in the steeple. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
