Scope and Content Document store inside Montrose Town-house, Angus Montrose Town-house was built after a local committee offered to pay for a new assembly room. It replaced a medieval tolbooth which continued to be used as a prison until it was demolished in 1837. The original document store on the first floor is still used to house civic records.
