Scope and Content A small excavation at 19-25 Hadden Street took place in 1986 to determine if this area had been in the precincts of the Carmelite friary. The area was to the north-east of the friary church in an area which might have contained the graveyard. The excavation revealed garden soils, with organic layers which may have been created as a result of dung-spreading. Portions of the skeletons of three children and one adult were found. The area appeared to have been undeveloped between the 13th and 18th centuries, and therefore in the friary precinct, near the graveyard. SCRAN 'when' data: 1273 foundation of Aberdeen Carmelite friary 1273 - 17th century burials at the friary 1560 the Reformation: friary abandoned 1336 friary damaged by the Fire of Aberdeen.
