Scope and Content A cobbled street lined by single, double and three storey stone buildings with slate roofs. Some of the buildings have dormer windows. There is a bollard at the corner of the Fair Maid's House to prevent vehicles hitting it. Once the old Glovers' Hall, the house gained fame as the residence of Catherine Glover in Sir Walter Scott's "The Fair Maid of Perth", published in 1828. The niche at the corner originally held a statue of the patron saint of glovers, St Bartholomew.
