Scope and Content A castle with corner turrets and battlements set on a rocky promontory above the seashore; wooded hills in background. Castle with tall central keep and flagpole on adjacent watchtower. The whole castle is harled and has a round tower entrance with a stone bridge crossing the defence ditch before it. Doorway in rock promontory below battlemented terrace wall. Coat of arms of the MacLeods and detailed description of castle on left of postcard. Seat of the chiefs of the MacLeods. Castle started in 15th century and was added to in each century. Home of the Fairy Flag.
