Scope and Content Mortuary enclosure at Littleour, Perth and Kinross This mortuary enclosure is situated on the crest of a ridge 130m west of Littleour steading. It was discovered by aerial survey and has since been excavated, which showed that it was in use in the 4th millennium B.C. This is a view of the enclosure from the west, taken during its excavation. The sides comprised eight posts, with two more forming each of the rounded ends. In the centre of the east end is a much larger post hole. Mortuary enclosures are thought to be places where human bodies were kept before burial. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
