Scope and Content 26 Nethergate, Kinghorn, Fife Kinghorn was a royal burgh by about 1170. It had a weekly market from 1285, but was not represented in parliament until 1470. Much of the burgh was rebuilt in the 19th century when the linen industry brought new prosperity. Many of the houses on Nethergate date from the 18th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
