Scope and Content North Overgate, Kinghorn, Fife Kinghorn was a royal burgh by about 1170. It had a weekly market from 1285, but was not represented in parliament until 1470. Much of the burgh was rebuilt in the 19th century when the linen industry brought new prosperity. North Overgate contains examples of 18th-century houses, Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
