Scope and Content Sundial pedestal, Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. This is the pedestal of the sundial on the castle's front lawn. It is carved with the Munro crest and the date 1741. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
