Scope and Content Free North Church, Dunfermline, Fife The Free North Church was built in 1841-2 in Gothic Style. The bellcot has lost its spire. Gothic architecture, the distinctive pointed-arched style of the later Middle Ages, was revived in the late 18th century. It remained popular for public buildings, especially churches, well into the 20th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
